About Qualified Listeners

We are a nonprofit that helps Veterans and families find more peace in their life. Since 2017, we have provided a variety of direct services including peer-to-peer listening, transportation and direct Veteran assistance. Our staff and volunteers care deeply about our mission and our work that makes deep impacts on the lives of Veterans and their families.

About the Assignment

To provide safe, reliable, and compassionate transportation for veterans to medical appointments, community events, and essential services, ensuring they remain connected and supported.

Time Commitment:

  • Flexible; typically, 2–6 hours per week depending on program needs.
  • Minimum 3-month commitment preferred to ensure continuity for veterans.

Volunteer Driver Requirements:

  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
  • Access to a reliable, insured vehicle (or willingness to drive program-provided vehicles).
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Respectful and empathetic toward veterans’ diverse backgrounds and needs.
  • Willingness to attend orientation and safety training.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Transportation: Drive veterans to scheduled appointments, events, or errands as assigned.
  • Punctuality: Arrive on time and ensure veterans reach destinations promptly.
  • Companionship: Offer friendly conversation and emotional support during rides.
  • Safety: Follow all traffic laws, maintain a clean driving record, and ensure vehicle safety.
  • Coordination: Communicate with program coordinators to confirm schedules and report completed trips.
  • Flexibility: Adapt to changing schedules or last-minute requests when possible.
