We’re thrilled to share that Qualified Listeners was recently featured in a news segment by FOX31 Denver (KDVR), one of Colorado’s leading local news stations. The coverage shines a light on the work we do every day — connecting veterans with the compassionate, peer-based support they deserve. It’s an honor to have our mission recognized, and we’re grateful for the opportunity to reach more veterans and families who may benefit from what we offer.
The segment followed our founder Greg Goettsch, a Vietnam veteran himself, as he hosted a Vet Connect event — an occasion designed by veterans, for veterans, to address a wide range of needs, from employment assistance to simple human connection. FOX31 Denver At its heart, Vet Connect reflects everything Qualified Listeners stands for: showing up for fellow veterans without judgment and without pretense. As Greg put it, our volunteers aren’t counselors or therapists — they’re friends who know how to listen.
The piece also featured Ken Butcher, a Vietnam-era veteran whose story is one many in our community will recognize. Decades after his service, Ken continued to carry the weight of his experiences, searching for the peace that so many veterans spend years trying to find. His willingness to seek help — and to show up at an event like Vet Connect — is a testament to the courage it takes to reach out. It’s exactly the kind of moment our work is built around.
Qualified Listeners offers peer-based, non-judgmental listening to veterans in pain — people who often tell us they’ve never shared their experiences with anyone before. Beyond listening, we provide resource referrals, transportation assistance, and hands-on support to help veterans and their families find greater stability and peace in their daily lives. Longmontfoundation We’ve been proud to serve hundreds of veterans in our community each year, and we remain committed to expanding our reach.
If you or a veteran you care about could use someone to talk to, we’d welcome the opportunity to connect.
